Baby Bat Beauty
So Baby Bat Beauty is one of those small companies that caught my eye due to some good branding and a selection of very try-able colours. With little to lose, I decided to give them a go and honestly, I was very pleasantly surprised. The formula of both the traditional and liquid-to-matte lipsticks is transfer-proof and long-lasting but unlike some of my other favourite formulas, it is a lot easier to get them off when finished (even though you can tell from the photos my skin got very irritated from swatching).
So, without further adieu, I have 12 shades swatched for you!
Top to Bottom: Countess, Pandora, Spring Fling, Harvest Moon, Campfire, Tiger Eye, Ruby, Persephone, Mars, Cranberry Cocktail, Silent Night, Amethyst
(I also apologise for the resolution; I was trying some new lighting and apparently it didn’t work out as well, but the colour is definitely still there. I spent so much time and obviously a lot of scrubbing on these photos that I thought had turned out well that I truly don’t want to have to do it again – sorry! This post will definitely be updated when I get new shades.)
Countess is definitely a true red with a blue undertone but it’s more muted. It’s great to wear as a red lip that isn’t too bright.
Pandora is a darker red that’s also a bit muted, like Countess. It’s also a great shade of blackened red that’s not super bold.
Spring Fling is definitely a much brighter colour. It’s a bit of a coral red with pink and orange undertones, however it is more of a red. I thought it would be closer to pink but it’s actually a nice coral colour and it’s one of my favourites from the brand.
Liquid to Mattes
Limited edition Harvest Moon is more of a medium-toned orange-red, which looks like a light brown colour. It’s definitely a great shade for an off-red in the orange/brown direction.
I believe Campfire was also limited edition for fall, but it’s a true red that’s slightly blackened. It’s definitely a beautiful shade of dark red.
Tiger Eye is definitely one of my favourites from this brand. It’s a beautiful warm red with an orange undertone – and y’all should know how I feel about warm reds!
Ruby is definitely a bright true red with blue undertones. Every brand seems to have a true red shade and I’d say this is Baby Bat’s.
Persephone seems to be the fan favourite amongst Baby Bat’s customers and it’s a pure blackened red that’s darker than Campfire but definitely maintains its red pureness. It’s a little too dark for me but everyone’s different, right?
Mars is the only metallic I have in my Baby Bat collection. It’s an interested cool red that also has hints of lavender in the colour. If you like metallics, this will be an interesting but definitely wearable shade for your collection.
Cranberry Cocktail was also limited edition but I hope it comes back because it’s a beautiful magenta-toned red. I wouldn’t call it “cranberry” but it’s definitely a cool-toned and pinkish red that’s great for days when a truer red just isn’t going to cut it.
Another limited edition, Silent Night is a muted grape purple, which almost looks blackened even though it isn’t terribly dark.
Amethyst is a bright grape purple colour and is one of the more interesting purples I own. While this formula is more sheer than the others for some reason, it’s definitely a more brightly-coloured light purple.
I apologise again that this lighting didn’t work out but I sincerely hope that the colours were easily distinguishable and that I helped you learn more about Baby Bat Beauty’s shades! Until next week!

Unsuccessful Purple Hair
I dye my hair a temporary colour sometimes and even though I’m in love with Manic Panic’s Purple Haze, I decided to try some new products which didn’t go quite as well.
First I tried Aesthetic by Lime Crime because the colour looked gorgeous and I absolutely love their lippies, so what did I have to lose? Well, I had nothing to lose, that’s what.
Ummm. There was a good amount of colour in the packaging at least? But obviously it didn’t really do anything to my hair. Some strands had a pinkish highlight, but really? I left the dye in for two hours on my entire head – bleached and natural blonde – and nothing? I don’t even know how that could’ve been achieved but at least it didn’t ruin my hair, I guess. They have great makeup but I’m not going to buy their hair dye again.
Additionally, I got some Dye Hard hair gel from Manic Panic (in the shade Purple Haze of course) because I wanted to try out a product that would stay in my hair for a day only. Since the tubes were small, I used it only on the underside of my hair. At first, it worked pretty well; the colour was pigmented and seemed to flow nicely when brushed out. And then…
Super faded. The product itself was great, it wasn’t messy and it was easy to apply, but I was disappointed that it dried to a very faint purple colour when it was pigmented wet. However the gel was way more successful than Lime Crime’s pretty big failure.
I’d really like to try some more colours from different brands but for now, my favourite is still Manic Panic’s Purple Haze – by a long shot.
I can’t believe 2017 is almost over! I dropped the ball on taking more aesthetically-pleasing photos and that’s really my only goal this year. I’d like photos that look a bit more professional and actually, I’m thinking of painting my room white so I have a clean canvas to take pictures against. In any event, I definitely want to continue blogging through the new year and I hope that better photographs will follow.
I hope everyone has a wonderful new year and that 2018 will treat you well!

Tarte Liquid Lip Swatches
I have to admit that since they have more natural colours, I didn’t think I’d wear Tarte Cosmetics as much as I do. I frequently throw on their lip paint since I actually really like their true red colours. (Though I have to be honest, these stay on alright but are not smear/transfer proof.) I was short on time when I did these swatches, which is why the application is horrid but I decided to make this post because their colours look very similar and since they’re about $20 a pop, it’s worth knowing the differences.
My favourite has got to be XOXO because it’s a nice true red that doesn’t have any significant undertones but it’s not very saturated, which I love. It looks like a red you’d see more in nature and it’s difficult to find a shade like that. I wear this one all the time.
Cheerleader is definitely the darkest but I would call it a true deep red with a slight berry undertone rather than a dark red. It’s a great sophisticated colour.
The creamy matte lip colour Bae is a true deep red but it’s lighter than cheerleader. The colour is as close to a deep red as it can be without being dark, so it’s a great shade. However I found this formula a lot chunkier to put on than the others – not impossible, just different.
Extra is definitely the brightest of the five and it’s a cool-tone red. It’s actually more of a true cool red since it’s not neon, just a bit brighter than their other shades.
Swamp Family Red is a collaboration with Bunny Meyer and I think it’s limited edition. This colour is definitely a true cool red, probably the coolest of the five I have, but it is definitely a true red so if that’s something you’re looking for, this should definitely be a contender.
Left to Right: XOXO, Cheerleader, Bae, Extra, Swamp Family Red
I hope that this was helpful and even though their formula isn’t perfect, these colours are really nice and I wear them often.
Next week I will be on a plain to Europe and I’m probably going to be gone until mid-November so follow me on Instagram for some beautiful pics and I’ll update everyone on my trips when I get back. Until then!
