OOTDs: Embracing Winter

I’m sorry for the lack of blogging. I’ve been busy and with this increase in my work comes a decrease in energy. Alas, I’ve been able to put together some OOTDs for today and hopefully next week, I can have another swatch post up.

Black velvet dress with a red leopard bag
Dress: MoonMaiden Gothic
Coat: Heavy Red
Shoes: Ebay
Bag: Etsy

Since I’ve been so sick of wearing sweaters and leggings, I’ve been wearing these boots a lot and it’s been a great alternative to my warm outfits that also make me look a bit basic. I was definitely happy that this came together and thought it looked trad but still elegant, especially with the red leopard purse I haven’t used in years. It’s not a favourite look but at least it was breaking out from wearing the same old stuff, for me.

The coat is by Heavy Red and is quite warm but two of the buttons have already broken off so while it’s the best coat I have, I’m hoping that I don’t get judged too much for how tattered it is.

Skirt by Lady Sloth

Skirt by Lady Sloth
Top: Boohoo
Skirt: Lady Sloth
Shoes: Forever 21

I decided to wear this skirt again since it’s one I seldom wear and I absolutely loved it paired with a velvet top I got from Boohoo! It ended up not being the best choice for this below-freezing day but I actually really loved this outfit, and it’s perhaps one of my favourites. I’d definitely like to wear this skirt more often.

Last year was definitely giving me some doubts but this year, I have a lot more faith that things will get better for me. I’m currently on a buying break until probably March, since I really need to focus on loans and other things now, but I’m also eager to get back into my closet and work with things I haven’t really worked with before.

I hope everyone else is having a promising year. Until next week!

OOTDs: Mid-December

I want to apologise in advance because I didn’t notice how flat these outfits look from a distance. I’ll remember to get more detail shots in the future, but I hope my next post isn’t an OOTD.

Outfit by Heavy Red
Sweater & Coat: Heavy Red
Lipstick: “Sleighin’ It” by Makeup Monsters

The sweater has a nice textural design on it, which I should’ve gotten a closeup of, and it’s quite warm as well. I was going for a more basic look and then added a limited edition holiday lipstick for some fun. It’s another red that has glitter in it but unlike the one in my previous post, this one is much lighter.

Dress by Dracula Clothing
Dress: Dracula Clothing

I love this dress. It is so simple and elegant, but it is a bit heavy so I find it appropriate for colder weather – and it was freeeezing when I wore it. I forget why but I was hesitant to buy it at first and now it’s one of my favourite clothing pieces. And it cost me only $50!

Anyway we have two more weeks til Christmas and I’m pretty excited! Have a lovely week!

OOTDs: Mid-November

Sorry I didn’t blog last week. I’ve been busy and I’ve honestly been having a horrible time lately. I got dumped, my property was burned on Halloween, and the election didn’t go my way. But anyway, I’m hoping that things are only going to get better from here on out.

Anyway, here are some outfits from the past few weeks:

Heavy Red Gothic
Sweater & Leggings: Heavy Red

Heavy Red Gothic
Hoodie: Heavy Red
Skirt: Ebay

Unfortunately Heavy Red doesn’t seem as active as they once were but I love their clothing. I’ll even check Ebay every so often to see if someone’s selling items from their old collections. I’d still love to get my hands on one of their retired flapper-style dresses for example.

El Costurero Real
Blouse: El Costurero Real

This brand has a tonne of great stuff in their store that I could never afford but this blouse was a bargain! The detail is so pretty and as you can see the sleeves have a nice shape to them to add a bit of drama.

Now that I have a blog I try to update regularly, I realise that I often wear what would be deemed “summer clothes” during the winter but I usually put a coat on to be outside in the cold. There’s nothing wrong with that but now I feel a bit strange saying, “Hey, this week I wore a tank top and mini skirt – even though it was snowing out.” So expect some outfits that may not coordinate with the season because I don’t even have the wardrobe to make up a bunch of winter outfits.

Stay well, everyone!
