OOTDs: an Attempt to be Elegant

I’m feeling a lot better than I did a few weeks ago. Sometimes time away from things can really help smooth things over. But in any event, I do have some pretty cute OOTDs to show you!

I absolutely love this blouse (which is actually a dress) that I got from Boohoo and I’ve liked wearing it a lot, so I decided to pair it with some awesomely comfortable wide-legged pants I got from Etsy! These pants are absolutely amazing and I’ve worn them with a variety of different tops from velvet blouses to tees so I’m sure they’ll be making an appearance here on the blog quite a few more times.

I wanted to break out my new blouse from PUG Clothing so I decided to pair it with an elegant skirt I’ve been wearing a lot recently. I really like the way the outfit turned out, elegant but also a bit edgy with the skeleton motif and the blocky boots. I definitely really liked this look.

Also, I decided on a fringe bang and I actually really like it! It’s nice to try something different every once in a while.

I hope everyone has been having a wonderful week and that this upcoming spring will treat you all well! Until next time!

OOTDs: Embracing Winter

I’m sorry for the lack of blogging. I’ve been busy and with this increase in my work comes a decrease in energy. Alas, I’ve been able to put together some OOTDs for today and hopefully next week, I can have another swatch post up.

Black velvet dress with a red leopard bag

Coat: Heavy Red
Shoes: Ebay
Bag: Etsy

Since I’ve been so sick of wearing sweaters and leggings, I’ve been wearing these boots a lot and it’s been a great alternative to my warm outfits that also make me look a bit basic. I was definitely happy that this came together and thought it looked trad but still elegant, especially with the red leopard purse I haven’t used in years. It’s not a favourite look but at least it was breaking out from wearing the same old stuff, for me.

The coat is by Heavy Red and is quite warm but two of the buttons have already broken off so while it’s the best coat I have, I’m hoping that I don’t get judged too much for how tattered it is.

I decided to wear this skirt again since it’s one I seldom wear and I absolutely loved it paired with a velvet top I got from Boohoo! It ended up not being the best choice for this below-freezing day but I actually really loved this outfit, and it’s perhaps one of my favourites. I’d definitely like to wear this skirt more often.

Last year was definitely giving me some doubts but this year, I have a lot more faith that things will get better for me. I’m currently on a buying break until probably March, since I really need to focus on loans and other things now, but I’m also eager to get back into my closet and work with things I haven’t really worked with before.

I hope everyone else is having a promising year. Until next week!

OOTDs: Bats and Masquerades

I hope the new year has been treating everyone well. Mine’s had so many ups and downs but I already have two vacations planned, which I’m really excited about.

Anyway, here are some OOTDs:

Dress by Boohoo
Dress: Boohoo

Detail of bats

I’d never heard of this brand before but I actually really like their selection and ended up buying a few things from them. It looks like they’re a good store to turn to once Halloween comes around, and I got this bat dress for a deal. It’s actually pretty comfy and it’s good for both casual and formal events, as well as layering. I wore it our plainly but I definitely want to play around with layering it more.

Skirt by Lady Sloth

Skirt: Lady Sloth
Shoes: Bettie Page

Honestly, with my hair colour fading and the grey skirt, this look felt a bit weird since it was more pastel than I usually like. I liked it but I definitely want to make it look darker next time; pastel isn’t really me.

On another note, I was a bit concerned about peoples’ reactions (mostly online) that I bought a lolita skirt to wear it with non-lolita attire. Do people think that’s unacceptable? I personally don’t think so, but I know that lolitas tend to have rules about their attire. But could I really resist this gorgeous and unique print?
